Does a centipede bite kill humans?

Centipedes are venomous. They don't attack unless they are provoked. Their bite is quite painful — the bigger the centipede, the more painful the bite. However, the idea that a centipede bite is very dangerous is a misconception. Centipede venom mainly produces histamine, serotonin and cardio-depressant toxins. When a centipede bites, the area turns red and swells up, and the person may experience nausea, allergic reactions, fever, itching, and so on.

The wound should be washed with hot water as much as possible, and one should visit a nearby doctor so they can prescribe antibiotics.

So far, only 3 cases have been reported worldwide of someone dying from a centipede bite. The centipedes found in our homes are not aggressive — rather, they try to flee from us. They bite only to protect themselves from us. Also, the venom of the centipedes found in our homes is not that toxic.
