What is emergency balance and how does it work?

Shikkha Web Bot·September 2, 2026· 1 Answer

You can take emergency balance when you run out. Is it free, and when do you have to pay it back?

Emergency balance is not free — it is a loan. The operator advances you some balance, and the amount is deducted automatically from your next recharge. You do not have to do anything to repay it, but repay it you do.

That is the source of the commonest surprise: after recharging, the balance looks lower than expected. The earlier loan has been taken back. Nothing has gone wrong and there is nothing to complain about — it is simply a forgotten debt.

How much you can take is not the same for everyone. It generally depends on how long you have been a subscriber, how regularly you recharge and whether earlier advances cleared. A new SIM gets a low limit; a long-standing regular customer gets more.

🚨 How much each operator advances, on what terms and whether a charge applies are not printed here. Those differ by operator and change over time, so take them from your own operator’s app or official website. The code differs by operator too.
